Its End of August!!

How time flies, I can't believe that I took time off blogging, not on purpose, but because I have been so busy being creative. I had a few fun events in July, from the Fashion Fest 2010 to the Fashion Denver Market which was fun. I discovered that my keyhole Sheath dress was loved by many. Therefore, for spring 2011, it will come in cotton as well and in colorful prints. I have been finalizing my designs, creating my patterns and cleaning all necessary as the next plan is to present to a few boutiques and also sell on my website. www.audrymarie.com

In addition to all this, I have been making one on one clothing for my great clients. Its my first love, making clothes for people, but in the meantime, i have to keep on moving. So much coming this fall. Thanks for stoppying by

Happy July

Whenever July comes around, i get this little nudge reminding me that 6 out of 12 months is gone. This is a time for me to ask myself what I achieved in the past six months. Did I achieve the goals I set for myself? What are the lessons learned, will I change anything? These are questions that I am asking myself........

Anyhoo, July is a fun month. The Fashion Denver Summer Market is on July 11th and I do have a few fun dresses and skirts for sale. Its all about fun and networking as well.

Style Wars Show

The style wars show was last friday and it was so much fun and sweaty. The designers were given 40 minutes to create a garment from recycled materials, donated clothes from Goodwill and just plain weird interesting stuffs. My friend Lyn was my assistant for the event and my lovely friend/model Amanda was my model. We ended up cutting up a mens shirt and using a bed sheet to create a skirt. We used a sack like material as the belt. It was great. Check out the picture..

Planning the next collection

This is my 2nd year of committing to doing what I love. Been busy planning Audry Marie Holiday 2010 Collection Spring 2011. My trip to Los Angeles was useful. I spent majority of my time at downtown LA, specifically 9th Street and Pedro St. It always gives me joy simply looking and touching fabrics....trying to figure out what the content is and how it will move when worn...what style will fit certain fabrics etc. Imagine using a wrinkly fabric for a pair of pants or forgetting to line s dress when the fabric is itch? For every fabric I decide to use, I put a lot of thought to it. Will this work for what I intend to use it for and I always think about how to finish an outfit prior to my cutting any fabric. Taking the time to write down step by step of how you plan to construct a garment is necessary. Imagine finishing the neckline and forgetting to install a zipper till the very end?

I finally settled for some fabric with lycra/spandex and fun colors. Still trying to narrow down my colors...........navy, turquoise, red or wine. We'll see soon.

Prints,florals, colors and full skirt

This spring, it won't hurt to pair a colorful floral full skirt with a plain top.Black and grey is cool, but its time for bold colors. This fall, we will see lots of full skirts as well. I am curently working on a few floral dresses for summer. I plan to attend one of the few markets in Denver to test my product. Stay tuned.

Launching Etsy soon

I have been working on a few fun summer pieces and planning to launch my etsy shop by end of week. You know, etsy!!, the website where you can sell all your handmade goods. Yes, my clothes are made in my little studio in my home. Everything is thought out in my little space and its fun. I will start with a few skirts, and dresses all for summer and see where that goes. This is not part of my premier collection. Look out for that soon.

Oh boy

I can't believe I abandoned you dear blog for so long. Its just been a long week of thinking and sewing and trying to figure out what next to do with all this fun. I am working on selling a few handmade clothing via etsy website. Of course the ultimate goal will be to sell from my own site. It will happen soon..........I am hopeful. In the meantime, watch out, I will be selling a few summer skirts and dresses soon, and I can always make to order if needed.

Fall 2010

I attended the Fall 2010 DVD Showing organized by Fashion Group International. It was fun. I found that regardless of all the crazy styles, silhouettes and all, it all balls down to a wearable style. Colors are in this fall, camel was a popular color, used mostly for great coats (Marc Jacobs) and pants (Michael Kors. Turquoise, purple, orange will also be in for fall 2010. Pencil skirts will no longer be popular as the full skirts will be in this fall and dresses as well. As of fabrics, Velvet for evening wear, Plaid for coats and dresses and lace will be seen this fall. Regardless of what is shown this fall, when buying, make sure you buy what will last long and what you can wear with other pieces, like a great coat.

Slow week

I had other personal things taking me away from blogging. Well, its over now and I am getting back to my sewing. I still have the DVD showing on Thursday and I still making the dress to wear. I am changing my mind. At first I thought about making a one shoulder dress in purple, but I am leaning towards wearing a dress from my 1st classic collection. Don't know yet, but I will let you know by Friday.

hmm its friday already.....

Its friday and I don't have anything new to show. I have all my patterns cut out but haven't had the time to sew. I have a knit black dress, a jeans summer dress to finish and i have been thinking of making a one shoulder dress for MYSELF. If I complete it, I plan to wear it for the DVD Showing of Fall/Winter 2010 RTW Collections. This event is organized by FGI (Fashion Group International) Denver branch which I am part of. I plan to participate in lots of events this year. I guess the key is to Network! Oh by the way, the one shoulder dress will be in purple. I think purple is a cool color.

L'Wren Scott - D designer

I just love L'Wren Scott designs. I bet most of you are used to the well known designers - Dior,Channel, DVF, to mention a few. I think L'Wren designs are very classy and simple. This is a pic of one of her designs from Spring 2010 RTW. She does inspire me.

Another day..........

I finally got my lovely Cotton fabrics in the mail yesterday. I spent the night tossing and turning and analyzing what to do with the neckline for the summer dresses that I am currently working on. I want it to have something unique......perhaps the fabric itself and how it will be combined will say it all. In the meantime, check out the 2 dresses i finished yesterday.

Another week, lots of ideas

I am starting this week by finishing 2 summer dresses. The yellow dress is of Ethnic print, made of 100% cotton. Its a fun summer dress and the other is a simple knit dress to run errands. I drafted my patterns from scratch and made the normal adjustments to fit an american Size 8 or Medium. I will post pics ASAP. Laters....

Yay I am a blogger!!

I figured, i might as well share what I love to do by blogging. I have all these thoughts going through my mind.......what kind of neckline should this dress have, should I use print or plain color fabric, how will it fit??? There is something interesting about finding the right fabric and creating the right clothes for any shape with the appropriate fabric. Since this is my first post, I will simply say that my goal is to share with you what I do in the 'fashion' world. Currently I am working on some spring/summer dresses and I will share the pics as I make them. In the meantime, I spent some time last year, creating a simple classic clothing line. At first my focus was on tall pants, but I gradually added a few things that will make it a complete ensemble. A few of the pieces are shown below. BIG THANKS to my lovely Model Amanda!
